and Semiconductor System Technologies invites applications for a position of a
University Professor - salary grade W 3
in the field of "RF Systems".
Reference number: IV-453/16 (starting at the earliest possible / permanent / closing date for applications 17/10/16)
Working field: Research in the area of RF systems in the microwave and mm-wave frequency range, with emphasis on at least one of the following fields:
Broadband wireless communication systems (systems with MIMO antennas for space diversity, frequency-agile and reconfigurable systems,
enhancing the digital contents of transmitter and receiver).
Radar sensors for automotive and industrial applications (networked sensors, positioning and localization, ambience awareness, parameter measurements)
Radar-based imaging systems for material testing and security applications
Close cooperation with chairs in related fields such as communications, microelectronics and sensors is expected. The
teaching assignment includes courses on RF basics in the Bachelor degree program and advanced courses related to the
subject of RF systems in the Master degree programmes offered by the Faculty IV - Electrical Engineering and Computer
Science. This includes a lecture on antennas.
The collaboration with local non-university research institutes working in the same or related fields is an essential
aspect of the chair’s profile. Accordingly, existing collaborations shall be strengthened and extended, in particular
with the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH), Berlin, and the Leibniz Institute IHP
in Frankfurt/Oder. The same is true for the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration (IZM) and the Fraunhofer
Heinrich Hertz Institute (HHI), both in Berlin.
Requirements: Candidates should fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance
with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in research
(PhD), post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent qualification and pedagogical didactic qualifications,
to be proven by a teaching portfolio (for more information see TUB Website, quick as no. 144242). Furthermore, we expect
proven expertise and a solid publication record in at least one of the above-mentioned technical fields as well as
teaching experience and competence in the management of a working group.
Applicants are requested to submit a first concept of the research and teaching activities envisaged with their application. Experience
in the acquisition of external funding above average is desired.
