University Professor - salary grade W3
for the chair of "Experimental Physics, in particular Applied Physics".

Working field: We are looking for an internationally outstanding researcher with a strong background in the field of experimental
physics, especially applied physics. The research area should be complementary to the existing research activities and tie into the fields of solid-state
physics, nanophotonics, and quantum optics. The focus should be on the development and study of opto-electronic materials and their application in photonic
devices. The materials can include traditional semiconductor systems as well as new materials such as plasmonic nanostructures, van-der-Waals heterostructures,
and 2D quantum materials. The development of devices can include, e.g., innovative laser concepts, heterogeneous integration, integrated nanophotonics,
as well as components of ultra-fast data transmission and quantum communication. A willingness to intensify cooperation with the research areas of the
Institute of Solid State Physics, Faculty II (Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and Faculty IV (Electrical Engineering) as well as non-university research
institutions in Berlin is expected. Participation in current and future collaborative research projects is desirable.
Teaching duties consist of lectures, laboratory courses and seminars in experimental physics for engineering students at Bachelor and Master level, as well as lectures in solid-state physics and applied physics. The willingness to learn German is expected from Non-German speaking applicants. Participation in the other teaching responsibilities of the Institute of Solid State Physics and the various duties of academic self-government is also expected.
Requirements: Candidates must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act) [information sheet available by request], including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in research (doctorate and additional academic achievements) and pedagogical-didactic qualifications, demonstrated by teaching experience and visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website, quick access 144242).
A prerequisite for this position is the habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements in an industrial research or development department as well as pedagogical eligibility.
