The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Augsburg is a young
medical faculty with two main research areas „Environmental Health
Sciences“ (EHS) and „Medical Information Sciences“ (MIS) as well
as clinical profile centers in Vascular Medicine, Tumor Medicine and
Allergology. Thus, it focuses on an aspiring and future-oriented,
internationally attractive and interdisciplinary scientific profile. The
undergraduate training pursues a modern, competence-oriented
approach with the first model medical programme in Bavaria to secure
healthcare in the future.
The University of Augsburg has founded a Centre for Climate Resilience
in December 2020 with a specific research focus on the scientific basis
for holistic and implementable strategies to enable adaptation to the
inevitable consequences of climate change at a regional, national
and international level. Research projects will be implemented across
faculties and between disciplines with the participation of the Faculties
of Medicine, Applied Informatics, Economics, Humanities and Social
Sciences, Philology and History and Law.
Augsburg University Hospital offers almost all medical specialities for
the approximately two million inhabitants of the administrative district
of Swabia. As the only maximum provider of health care, the university
hospital treats a large number of patients with an exceptonally broad
spectrum of diseases in the outpatient and inpatient sector. This enables
the establishment of structured patient registers and environmentfocused
care research with the development of disease-specific early
warning systems.
