for the chair of "Philosophy of Cognition".
This position will be financed for an initial period of five years via the Federal Programme for
Women Professors to Promote Equality of Men and Women in Science and Research

Working field:
The successful candidate will represent the area of Philosophy of Cognition across teaching and research and will be participating in interdisciplinary exchanges with the other fields represented in the
Department along with active involvement in the DFG Cluster of Excellence "Science of Intelligence".
The following topics are representative of the outlook and research areas to be covered:
- Conceptual and empirically informed research on the conditions of agency and identity of cognitive systems
- The role of embodiment in analysing the relation between body and self
- Investigating the co-constitutive character of the individual and the environment and their interrelations from an enactivist perspective
- Philosophy of cognitive science and psychology, with a special emphasis on psycho-pathological phenomena
Teaching responsibilities amount to 9 hours of lectures and seminars per week, with the primary focus on the degree programmes hosted in the Department: MA degree course on "Theory and History of Science and Technology", and the BA degree course "Culture and Technology (Focus Area: Philosophy)". Furthermore, active participation in general education modules at the undergraduate level and in supervising doctoral students is expected, along with participation in teaching collaborations with other relevant Faculties at TU Berlin. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in both English and German.
Requirements:
Candidates must qualify for appointment according to the requirements of §100 of the Berlin Higher Education
Act (BerlHG). In particular, they must have completed a full university education leading to an excellent doctorate, either in Philosophy or in Cognitive Science, must have acquired postdoctoral qualifications (as documented by a Habilitation or equivalent academic achievements, e.g. in terms of academic publications), and must demonstrate teaching abilities, as documented by a written teaching portfolio (details about which can be found on the homepage of TU Berlin, direct access code

Also expected is the willingness and ability to participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations and to build networks with other institutions in the area of cognitive science and philosophy, including with the other Berlin universities. The successful candidate is expected to participate actively in academic self-governance. Candidates who are not fluent in German should be willing to acquire serviceable German language skills within a reasonable time frame.
