University Professor - salary grade W2
as part of the Einstein Center "Digital Future", in the field of "Digital Engineering 4.0", as temporary W2 endowed professorship.
Reference number: V-473/19 (starting at the earliest possible / for 5 years / closing date for applications 04/10/19)
Conducting of research and teaching in the field of future innovative data provision and integration of
technological innovations for new digital and data driven working methods and organisational forms in Engineering as
part of the Industrie 4.0 solution framework. Both the engineering requirements and the information technology possibilities
are to be taken into account. Research will be conducted with respect to new information solutions for dynamic structuring
and partitioning of product models as needed for modelling, validation and use of smart products (products with
high degree of digital networking) and digital twins for automotive solutions. Methods and tools of artificial intelligence
(AI) and semantic data analytics are to be leveraged in order to gain additional potentials in engineering excellence.
Candidates must fulfill the appointment requirements for professorships in accordance with §100 BerlHG
(Berlin Higher Education Act [information sheet available by request]). This includes a completed course of academic
studies in a relevant field, qualified achievements in research (PhD), post-doctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation) or
equivalent scientific achievements, and pedagogical didactic qualifications (proven by a teaching portfolio. For further

The future holder of the position is expected to have proven scientific knowledge in the above-mentioned field of vocation
from application-related technology research (e.g. IT architectures, artificial intelligence, specialist-engineering processes)
and the ability to develop technical and IT system solutions.
The wanted personality offers a high degree of willingness to cooperate with academic and industrial partners and the
ability to lead a working group. Initial practical work experience with an international orientation is desirable. At the same
time, teaching experience and participation in research projects in the areas of digitisation and technology development
are required. Experience in the acquisition and, if possible, management of national and international third-party funded
projects is required. Good English language skills are desired.
