Working field: The scientific scope of the position is a holistic approach to energy infrastructure integration in the context of climate neutrality. Research focus is on the development of models and methods for the analysis of optimised transformation paths of sector-integrated energy infrastructures on transport and distribution level, and the analysis, conceptual development and demonstration of system solutions for sector integration technologies, including the transformation from natural gas to hydrogen grids and power-to-heat. Teaching is due for two hours per week in the areas of sector integration and market integration of renewable energies as well as methods and tools for infrastructure modelling.
Linked to the professorship is a leading position at Fraunhofer-IEG in Cottbus which comprises scientific, technical and entrepreneurial responsibility within Fraunhofer.
The position requires close cooperation with other TU departments and with other Berlin and Brandenburg universities, as well as with national and international research and industrial partners.
Courses should be held in German and English.
Requirements: Candidates should fulfil the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education and qualified achievements in research (demonstrated, as a rule, by the quality of a doctorate/PhD), further research achievements in the mentioned field, and pedagogical skills.
We expect a person with international reputation and profound knowledge and publications in the following fields: Regulation and market integration of renewable energies, quantitative modelling of the European energy system and energy infrastructures with a focus on dominance of renewable energies, regulatory aspects of sector integration.
She*he should offer long-standing experience as leader of large interdisciplinary research groups and institutional networks, experience in strategic planning, acquisition and execution of large national and international research and development projects as well as competence in knowledge and technology transfer. Requirements are long-term experience in policy advisory as well as long-term experience and competence in research and teaching in energy economics and energy technologies. Further requirement is in-depth knowledge of integrated energy systems proven by successful acquisitions and project leadership in the area of energy systems based on renewable energies in context with the energy-specific legal and regulatory framework.
The successful candidate is expected to be capable of heading a department of around 100 staff members and must possess the requisite skills for the advancement of junior researchers and women, as well as skills in the area of ensuring gender equality and diversity. As an internationally renowned university, we require a very good command of English.
