The Faculty of Natural and Materials Science of the Clausthal University of Technology is seeking to appoint the position of a
University Professor (Salary Scale W2 NBesG) ”Inorganic Chemistry“ (m/f/d)
at the Institute of Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry as soon as possible.
We are looking for a personality who can build up an internationally competitive research group at Clausthal University of Technology and represent the subject of inorganic chemistry in teaching. The person to be appointed should conduct synthesis-oriented research on inorganic functional materials using innovative approaches. A contribution of this research to the leading topic of the TU Clausthal, the Circular Economy, is of great importance.
The research fits well into the research landscape of the TUC and is nationally and internationally networked. Chemistry research at the TU is fundamentally oriented, but often has an application focus. It creates a deeper understanding of phenomena and processes that take place at the molecular level. The development of collaboration within and outside the faculty as well as with non-university research institutions is desired. The willingness to actively participate in the development of coordinated research projects is required.
Clausthal University of Technology is a research-focused university with outstanding national and international networking and 250-years history. The approximately 3,500 students and more than 1,200 employees enjoy short commutes, personal interaction, and the diverse landscape of the Upper Harz region in the middle of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Harz Mountains. Clausthal University of Technology is the most significant economic factor and the largest employer in the region, offering cultural diversity and internationalism. Here, science works closely with business and industry, bridging the gap between basic research and application in a strategic focus on the Circular Economy. With this university-wide concept for the future, our research aims to contribute to the development of a sustainable industrial society in the digital age. The close link between material and process knowledge as well as the expertise in digitization facilitate a significant contribution to the implementation of the Circular Economy.
The requirements of the position are defined in Section 25 of the Niedersachsen Higher Education Act (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz NHG).
An adequate publication record is expected.
Experience in the acquisition of third-party funded projects or corresponding industrial experience is a prerequisite.
The willingness to hold courses in German and English is a prerequisite. Strong commitment to teaching is expected.
The Clausthal University of Technology wishes to increase the number of its female faculty. Therefore, applications from female candidates are particularly welcome. Candidates with disabilities who are equally qualified will be given preference. Applications from international scientists are welcome; proficiency in the German language is desired for teaching and committee work.
A part-time professorship is possible upon request.
Applicants who are 50 years or older at the time the appointment commences and who do not hold already a permanent civil servant status (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit) will be employed with employee status (Arbeitsverhältnis).
