University Professor – salary grade W3
for the field of
"Pre-Modern Art History and Materiality".

Working field:
In research, an engagement with the materiality of artworks is expected. In addition, subject-related
teaching is required in the Bachelor's programme "Culture and Technology" as well as in the Master's programme "Art
History". Duties also include the supervision of theses and participation in the tasks of academic self-administration. The
inclusion of gender and diversity approaches relevant to the discipline in research and teaching is expected.
Requirements:
Successful applicants must fulfil the requirements for an appointment at professor level in compliance
with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education in relevant disciplines,
relevant research achievements (doctorate in Art History or a related field), additional academic achievements (as a rule,
either a junior professorship with favourable evaluation, or a habilitation or habilitation equivalent). The position requires
an internationally visible profile in a field of European art history before 1800, international teaching experience at
universities, and an excellent research record. Publications on the material culture of the pre-modern period are required,
as is experience in acquiring and managing third-party funded projects. Practical experience in museums is welcome.
Pedagogical-didactic qualifications are to be documented by relevant teaching and tutoring experience and presented in
