The successful applicant will cover the area named above in research and teaching.
Appointment requirements are governed by Article 100 of the Berlin Higher Education Act (
Berliner Hochschulgesetz - BerlHG).
We are looking for a candidate with a research focus in the field of behavioural economics, especially neuroeconomics and experience in behavioural economic experiments as
well as neuroeconomic methods. research activities, preferably in an international environment. Applicants should be able to teach seminars in German and English. Additionally,
candidates will have experience in acquiring funding for, and carrying out, externally funded research.
Apart from the official duties in accordance with Article 99 of the Berlin Higher Education Act, we expect the appointee to engage in the following activities:
The appointee will engage in the economics and microeconomics curriculum of our bachelor and master program and teach in both German and English. Additionally, we
expect the new professor to publish research results in renowned international journals of economics and engage in the acquisition of third party funding. The
appointee will be expected to acquire missing German language skills within reasonable time and also address gender and diversity issues relevant to the discipline.
The professor will be appointed as a civil servant for an initial period of five years. Under the condition that the appointee passes the tenure evaluation, upon its
expiry the tenure track professorship entails appointment to the tenured position which will not be advertised. Objectives for this evaluation will be negotiated during
the appointment procedure for the tenure track professorship (according to Article 102 c
BerlHG).
The objectives to be agreed upon will include (but are not limited to) the following areas:
- Research
- Teaching
- Support of junior scholars
- Academic self-governance
- Personnel leadership
- Language proficiency
The conditions of employment according to civil service law must be fulfilled at the time of the tenure appointment. Please note that Article 102 c, Sections 3 and 7
of the
BerlHG applies for candidates that completed their PhD at Freie Universität Berlin and/or are employed at Freie Universität Berlin.

translations if needed), a list of publications, a list of courses previously taught, and evidence of teaching competence. Furthermore, please include information

for the respective content area, please give information on industrial cooperation, inventions/patents and spin-offs.
