Tenure-Track-Professorship (W1)
in Water Resources and Hydrochemistry

INSTITUTE FOR SANITARY ENGINEERING, WATER QUALITY AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT I AT THE EARLIEST OPPORTUNITY
The focus in research and teaching is on chemical water quality and water resources. The position involves teaching on this subject area in the German and English language study courses of Faculty 2: Civil and Environmental Engineering and in other study courses in which the faculty is involved.
In the context of sustainable use and conservation of water resources, the tenure-track-professorship is devoted to fundamental analytical methods for the characterisation of water, and to methods for improving chemical water quality and water recycling. Analytical methods will focus on the development of intelligent sampling strategies and monitoring concepts as well as the further development of water analytical quality control. The main emphasis lies on instrumental analysis and, in cooperation with the future professorship "Technical Environmental Biology and Ecosystem Assessment", on the innovative use and improvement of analytics related to active substances. In the field of process engineering, sustainable water treatment systems (elimination of problematic substances, such as micropollutants) are to be developed and optimized on a laboratory and pilot plant scale. For this purpose, the water-chemical basics of natural and technical aquatic systems and processes have to be investigated.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate who can demonstrate profound chemical and scientific competences in the fields of water chemistry and water analysis. Engineering skills in the field of water treatment are desirable. Applications by young researchers who are nationally and internationally visible through projects and publications are expected.
The ability, experience and willingness to interdisciplinary cooperation and the successful application and management of fundamental and application-oriented research projects as well as the participation in the Water Research Centre Stuttgart are expected.
The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of a positive evaluation. The requirements for employment listed in § 51 Baden-Württemberg university law apply. For more information on the criteria of evaluation and quality management, please visit the websites https://www.uni-stuttgart.de/universitaet/aktuelles/ bekanntmachungen/dokumente/bekanntm_65_2016.pdf

In case of the appointment as a W3 professor, the candidate will take over the technical responsibility for the Micropollutants Competence Centre of Baden-Württemberg (KOMS) and for the central laboratory of the institute, which is currently being installed. The management of a department and the membership in the executive board of the institute are also planned.
Applications should be sent electronically by 15th June, 2018, to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty 2: Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Stuttgart, Pfaffenwaldring 7, 70569 Stuttgart, Germany, email: Bewerbung_professur@f02.uni-stuttgart.de. Applications should include the Faculty application form (see www.f02.uni-stuttgart.de/downloads_fakultaet/eigeninfo_f02.docx), up to 5 key publications, and if applicable, a list and short description of third-party funds acquired, of current and former projects and of the teaching experience. For further information, please contact the deputy head of the Appointment Committee, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Silke Wieprecht, or the Dean’s Office (+49 711 685-60076).
