The University of Freiburg has been granted 12 Tenure-Track Professorships from the
Tenure-Track-Programme and now invites applications in the context of this programme
Tenure-Track Professorship for signalling
mechanisms of cell adhesion and invasion
at the Faculty of Medicine in the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology
and Toxicology, Division I.
This is a grade W1-professorship to which performance payments can be offered. It is
to be filled as soon as possible.
This professorship is also suitable for highly qualified early career researchers.
The main research area should be in tumor cell biology and molecular pharmacology.
The professorship shall strengthen the research profile of the Faculty of Medicine in
tumor and cell biology with a focus on signal integration and regulation. Of central
importance shall be mechanotransduction and signalling mechanisms in tumor heterogeneity
as well as interactions with the tumor microenvironment. Development and
establishment of 3D cell culture models combined with live cell microscopy is desirable.
Active participation in teaching in the field pharmacology is a prerequisite. Strong cooperations
with the Departments of Medicine, the Institute for Molecular Medicine and
Cell Research as well as the Cluster of Excellence CIBSS (Centre for Integrative Biological
Signalling Studies) is expected.
Prerequisites for the employment are a university degree in Medicine, Biochemistry or
Biology or similar subjects, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication
This position is a fixed term of four years. After a successful interim evaluation, it can be
extended by two years. Furthermore, the tenure procedure towards Full Professorship
W 3 will be initiated after successful interim evaluation.
The tenure procedures are regulated in the Statutes and Quality Assurance Concept for
Junior Professorships and Tenure Track Professorships and agreed upon with the Ministry
of Science (https://www.zuv.uni-freiburg.de/service/tenure). As a prerequisite for
granting tenure and the subsequent conversion into a full professorship (W 3) (1) the requirements
defined in the Statutes and Quality Assurance Concept have to be met and
(2) the subject specific criteria determined by the Faculty of Medicine have to be met.
