The Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University invites applications for a
TENURE TRACK PROFESSORSHIP (W 1, AFTER TENURE W 3) FOR CARDIOVASCULAR PHARMACOLOGY
The successful candidate should be an internationally visible young scientist with outstanding research accomplishments and methodological expertise in
cardiovascular research. She/he will head a research group at the Department of Experimental Pharmacology (director: Prof. Dr. T. Wieland) within the
European Center of Angioscience (ECAS; www.umm.uni-heidelberg.de/ecas/). His/her field of expertise should support and broaden the research topics
covered in the ECAS and the DZHK partner site Heidelberg/Mannheim (https://dzhk.de/en/partner-sites/heidelbergmannheim/). Future contributions to
the extramurally funded collaborative research programs in the research focus 'Vascular Biology and Medicine' of the Medical Faculty Mannheim are
expected. Contributions to other research foci of the Medical Faculty Mannheim and collaborative research programs of Heidelberg University are welcome.
In addition, applicants should display excellent teaching capabilities in Pharmacology and be highly committed to support the innovative medical curriculum
MaReCum. Command of the German language is not mandatory at the time of recruitment. Yet, the successful candidate is expected to contribute to the German
MD teaching curriculum within two years after arrival (as well as to the English graduate teaching curriculum).
In accordance with Section 51 Landeshochschulgesetz Baden-Württemberg (the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act), this appointment requires a
completed university degree, an excellent doctorate, and pedagogical aptitude. The professorship is a qualification position and we are thus searching
for a young researcher with typically up to six years of experience.
The tenure track professorship (salary grade W1) is initially limited to six years. Following a positive tenure evaluation, it will be converted to a
permanent professorship (salary grade W3). The position is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States.
