University of Regensburg
The Department of Immunomedicine
of the
Faculty of Medicine
invites applications for a
tenure-track Professorship of Integration and Analysis of Multimodal Data
(grade W1 with tenure track leading to professorship for life at grade W2)
for a period of four years with the legal status of temporary civil servant (Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit, for the initial phase), to be appointed as soon as possible. The tenure-track career path aims to forge transparent paths for early-career academics so they can plan their progression to professorships. For this reason, we explicitly encourage applications from young academics who have only recently achieved their doctorates. We are looking for a person with an innovative scientific profile, their first scientific achievements and outstanding potential for their further scientific career. The University of Regensburg offers the prospect, upon positive tenure evaluation, of transferring to a permanent position as W2 grade professor with the legal status civil servant for life (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit). You can find the requirements for the tenure evaluations at
https://www.uni-regensburg.de/rechtsgrundlagen/wissenschaft-lehre/tenure-track-verfahren/index.html.
Applicants should have relevant expertise and experience in the integration and statistical analysis of multi-omics datasets in the field of spatial biology, in particular with regard to the reconstruction of metabolic networks and intercellular communication. Demonstrated experience with machine learning algorithms and the analysis of mass spectrometric, spectroscopic and immunohistochemical imaging data is necessary. A strong willingness for interdisciplinary cooperation is expected. The professorship will be integrated into an innovative interdisciplinary Department of Immunomedicine together with other recently filled professorships. The Faculty of Medicine and the University of Regensburg offer an attractive framework for the professorship, with their existing collaborative research programs in onco-immunology as well as the Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy (LIT) and a Fraunhofer Group for Personalized Tumor Therapy as extra-university research institutions. The applicant is expected to teach in the areas of biomedical and natural sciences.
Prerequisites for taking up the position are, alongside the general conditions from public sector employment law, a completed university degree, pedagogic suitability, and particular aptitude for academic work, generally shown by an outstanding doctoral degree. The doctorate should have been obtained no earlier than four years before the end of the application period, or if the doctorate was in medicine no more than seven years. The relevant date is that on the doctoral diploma. Otherwise, the regulations of Art. 63 Para. 1 BayHIG apply. Applicants must have changed university after their doctorate or, before applying to the University of Regensburg, have been academically active for at least two years externally to the University of Regensburg.
The University of Regensburg is particularly committed to reconciling family and working life (for more information, see
www.uni-regensburg.de/familienservice). To fulfill the equality directive and increase the number of female professors, we explicitly encourage applications from qualified women.
In case of essentially similar suitability, applicants with severe disabilities are given preferential consideration.
The prerequisites for appointment under civil servant law are based on the provisions of the Bavarian public service code (BayBG) and BayHIG.
Applications containing the normal documents (resume, certificates, list of publications with copies of the five most important papers) should be submitted electronically
