Tenure Track Professorship for Intelligent Speech Interfaces (W2 / Associate Professor with Tenure Track to W3 / Full Professor)

at the Department of Computer Science. The professorship is to be filled by the earliest possible starting date for an initial period of six years as W2 Associate Professor. FAU offers the long-term perspective of a permanent appointment to a W3 professorship if the requirements of the tenure evaluation are met. We seek to appoint an expert who will develop an internationally visible research and teaching profile. The aim of the professorship is to set up a chair in computer science as part of a tenure track procedure within the framework of the AI Network Bavaria and the Hightech Agenda Bayern (Bavaria). The professorship should adequately represent the subject in research and teaching. In particular, applicants should have experience in at least one of the areas of automatic speech recognition, dialog systems, speech assistance systems, pathological speech processing, and simulation of speech and language processing in the human brain and must have a strong background in machine learning. Participation in the computer science, artificial intelligence, medical engineering, and data science degree programs is expected. Successful candidates demonstrate excellent academic achievements in research and teaching at the highest international standards. You have substantial research experience abroad and/or international cooperations as well as experience in managing research projects and in raising third-party funding. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree as well as a passion for education and pertinent teaching experience are prerequisites. Candidates who are able and willing to teach in both English and German are desired. The position also requires additional postdoctoral qualifications. These should be in the form of a habilitation (postdoctoral thesis) or equivalent academic qualifications. You may also have acquired the necessary qualifications in a non-university context or through a junior faculty position (for example as W1 professor or assistant professor).
