The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Tenure Track Professor (W1) of Plant Ecology
at the Institute of Landscape and Plant Ecology to be filled in the winter semester 2019/2020.
The successful candidate is expected to establish a competitive research program in plant ecology. He / She will study interactions
of plants with their biotic and abiotic environment. Ecologically relevant mechanisms shall be investigated at the organismic level.
Knowledge of state of the art statistical methods is expected and expertise in ecological process modeling would be advantageous.
Teaching of ecological aspects in English and German is expected in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs of the Faculty of
Agricultural Sciences. At the beginning, the teaching load will comprise four contact hours per week and will increase to six contact
hours per week after a successful interim evaluation.
The requirements for an appointment are a completed university degree, pedagogical suitability and a doctorate of outstanding quality.
The appointment will be a temporary civil service position for four years. After a positive interim evaluation, the employment relationship will be
extended for another two years. After six years, the applicant may be appointed to a W3-position if the requirements described in the University’s
quality assurance guidelines are met. The appointment to a W3-position may be done without any additional call for applications and through a simplified appointment process.
