The Faculty of Natural Sciences invites applications for the position of a
Tenure Track Professor (W1)
of Functional Plant
Ecophysiology
at the Institute of Biology to be filled in the summer semester 2024. This is
a grade W1-professorship for which recruitment payments can be off ered.
The successful candidate (f/m/d) is an excellent early career researcher
focusing on functional or molecular aspects of plant ecophysiology. Possible
research areas include plant environment interactions, plant resilience
against biotic or abiotic stress, or the mechanisms of stress adaptation. The
applicant is expected to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation, both within
the Institute of Biology as well as in larger intra- and extramural research
projects.
The candidate contributes to teaching in the BSc und MSc programs in
Biology and in Agricultural Biology, offering modules in the wider area of
their own research interests. The teaching load will comprise four contact
hours per week. After successful completion of the tenure-track period, the
professor will be expected to cover the entire fi eld of plant physiology with
an emphasis on the molecular and biochemical aspects of plant stress and
developmental physiology. In the future, the candidate should be able to
teach both in German and in English.
The position offers attractive conditions for tenure-track appointees.
This professorship is particularly suitable for highly qualified early career
researchers. The requirements for an appointment are a completed
university degree, pedagogical suitability and a doctorate of outstanding
quality.
If the requirements for civil service are met, the appointment will be a
temporary civil service position for six years. After six years, the applicant
may be appointed to a W3-position if the requirements described in the
University’s quality assurance guidelines are met. The appointment to a
W3-position may be done without any additional call for applications and
