Tenure Track Assistant Professorship
of » Cardiovascular Inflammation «

to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).

Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine and will be part of the Department of Cardiology at the German Heart Center Munich. TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany‘s top medical schools in research and in teaching with a strong focus on interdisciplinary fundamental and translational research. Close collaboration within the Greater Munich Area offer solid base for excellent fundamental and translational cardiovascular research. Depending on the scientific profile of the successful applicant, close interactions with the German Cardiovascular Consortium (DZHK) as well as other German Health Centers and integration into the collaborative research centers are planned.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert focusing on the role of the immune system in cardiovascular diseases. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and the basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments.

Qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase as well as proven ability to acquire third-party funding within top-level scientific funding programs (for instance EU, DFG) dealing with basic cardiovascular research are expected. Successful application for an advanced personal research fellowship (Heisenberg, ERC etc.) is desired.
