Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor in
pay scale W2 with tenure track option to W3 to begin as soon as possible.
The professorship is located in the TUM Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and belongs to the Center
of Competence on "NeuroEngineering" of the Department. TUM and Munich Area offer a rich and well-established
neuroscientific community, represented, among others, by BCCN Munich, Munich Center for Neurosciences, Graduate School of
The duties of TUM professors include research, teaching and the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint
an expert in the interdisciplinary research area of Neuroengineering with focus in the field of neuronal modelling at the
system level, neuronal controlled devices, and/or brain-computer interfaces.
Teaching duties imply courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. The candidate is expected to co-organize the
recently established Elite Master program "NeuroEngineering", which includes to set up and to maintain a large international
research network for project collaborations and student exchange.
We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, who has
demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest level. International
scientific experience during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase is required.
Candidates show pedagogical aptitude including the ability to teach in English, and have initial experience in setting up
multidisciplinary projects with industry and research institutions.
