The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Economics Education«
to begin in summer semester 2019. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).
The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
The professorship is attached to the TUM School of Education (EDU). This department is one of Germany’s most innovative institutions for teacher education and
educational research. We offer bachelor’s and master’s programs for pre-service teachers in vocational schools and secondary schools ("Gymnasium"). We cooperate
with most departments of the Technical University of Munich and collaborate with a vast network of schools in the Munich area. We provide an excellent study
environment at the cutting edge of scientific research and hands-on experience.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of
economics education. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, taught in German and English language. The candidate
is expected in particular to develop an internationally visible science profile in economics education, which takes into account the current developments in
economy and society for the improvement of quality in teaching. The candidate should represent the full spectrum of interdisciplinary of economics education
in teaching, as well as contribute to the integrative aspects of economics education and the preparation and support of training programs in vocational and
secondary schools. Furthermore the candidate is expected to develop and implement curricula of the TUM School of Education and other departments.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in German and English, are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. The candidate should be able to lead cooperative research projects based on external funding and to develop a strategic teaching approach. Candidates with experience in attracting external funding are particularly welcome.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor.
