The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Analytical Chemistry«
to begin in summer semester 2021. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Chemistry. Due to an international faculty and Master courses in English, the departments attracts outstanding students on all levels.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to ap-point an expert in the research area of Analytical Chemistry with a focus on complex processes in industrial and/or natural systems. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs explicitly in the chemical and chemical engineering program as well as in the field of life sciences and economics.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
The candidate should combine basic research with applied perspectives. The development of collaborations with TUM research groups in inorganic chemistry, catalysis, aquatic and analytical chemistry, food chemistry, construction chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering and others are encouraged, with outreach into economics. The successful candidate is expected to conduct cutting-edge research and teaching at all diverse levels in analytical chemistry to students of chemistry, life sciences and economics.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor.
