Proteomics & Mass Spectrometry Core Facility
The Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology invites applications for a full time scientific position in the Facility for Microbial Proteomics and Mass Spectrometry. Quantitative proteomics has become a valuable technology in life science research. The Core Facility supports scientists with state-of-the-art quantitative proteomics methodologies with a focus on global (LFQ, DIA, labeling approaches) and targeted (PRM) workflows of protein expression changes, posttranslational modifications and protein-protein interactions.
We are seeking a highly motivated, science-driven, collaborative and service-oriented scientist with experience in protein chemistry, mass spectrometry, and protein characterization to join the Core Facility. The main responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to (1) supervise and collaborate with scientists on multiple projects and contribute to standard operations in mass spectrometry; and, (2) implementation, evaluation and further development of advanced experimental proteomic workflows with a focus on structural and phosphoproteomic strategies.
The position requires a PhD in life science or equivalent with practical experience in MS-based proteomics including proteomics sample preparation, hands-on MS experience and data analysis. Experience with structural proteomic and/or phosphoproteomic workflows are beneficial. As proteomics is a data-centered discipline, we expect profound expertise in data analysis. Moreover, the successful candidate should be able to interact with scientists from a variety of backgrounds, team-oriented, self-motivated and enjoy working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
The position is initially limited to two years but can be extended depending on performance.
The MPI for Terrestrial Microbiology consists of four departments and several department-independent research groups and offers a stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment with approximately 280 people working at the institute. The daily language in the institute is English.
As an equal opportunity employer, the Max Planck Society is committed to employing more individuals with disabilities. We therefore actively encourage individuals with disabilities to apply. We also seek to increase the percentage of female employees in areas where they are under-represented. Qualified women are therefore strongly encouraged to apply. The Max Planck Society strives for gender and diversity equality. We welcome applications from all backgrounds.
Please include your CV including publication record, names and email addresses of two academic referees, statements of previous research and possible future research goals (no more than two A4 pages for each).
