SOFTWARE DEVELOPER (F/M) FOR THE FIELD OF OFFSHORE WIND ENERGY

Wind energy is our primary focus. Our institute is home to more than 250 employees and students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development. We achieve this with a combination of an internationally unique testing infrastructure and extensive methods expertise in the fields of the reliability and validation of wind turbines.
The duties awaiting you...
Offshore processes are influenced significantly by environmental factors such as the wind and the motion of the seas. It is no longer possible to reduce these weather and process risks by applying our experience alone, and, instead, they need to be investigated by means of complex simulations and minimized through the implementation of corresponding measures. Various software tools for the simulation of offshore processes with actor-based methods have already been developed in-house using Java/Scala, and your task will be to develop them further. You will design and program the software structure as well as the graphical user interface (GUI) in collaboration with the method developers and never lose sight of the application orientation. In addition, you will ensure that connection is possible for the evaluation of large quantities of data and web-based databases. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to bring in your own, new ideas and implement them in the application.
Your day-to-day work is very varied...
You will develop the software architecture and the program code and engage in research in order to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field. You will take on your own work packages in different projects, write project reports (yes, that is part of the job, too), and submit research applications.

But don't worry if you haven't - you can learn everything you need to know about the sector here. You will present your results to your team and our customers as well as the academic community. This is not a problem for you in both English and German. If you are interested in doing a Ph.D., we can create the opportunities for you and support you on your way.

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally, Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
The working time consists of 39 hours per week.
The position is initially limited for 3 years.
