Senior Scientist (m/f/d) for Urban Climate Simulation and Impact Assessment
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team focusing on the development of new approaches and solutions for climate-responsive cities around the world.
You will be pioneering new ways how cities can combat climate change with novel methods.
You lead a group of experts and closely work with our team of urban planners, data scientists, environmental experts as well as water and energy specialists.
You design, acquire and lead national/European research as well as client projects.
You push the boundaries of cutting-edge regional, urban and microclimate simulation by co-developing and improving climate models.
You extract regional climate simulation results as forcing data for our model runs to perform impact analysis and assessments for various urban scales.
You explore and interpret climate change signals not only as time series but as spatial patterns, comparing historical data with future climate scenarios.
You develop climate adaptation and resilience strategies for regional and urban scales applying climate models tailored to the local needs.
You motivate, lead and develop an interdisciplinary team of researchers and supervise PhDs.
You become a known player in the Austrian and European urban climate research community.
You publish the findings from research projects in top peer-reviewed journals and present research result at international conferences.
Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner*:
PhD in Meteorology, applied physics or related disciplines
Several years of proven experience in regional, urban and microclimate simulations and climate models for different scales (e.g. WARF, Cosmo CLM and Palm4you, Solweig, Envimet, Grasshopper tools)
Profound knowledge in the assessment of climate models and the exploration of simulation results
Experience in analysing extreme events and climate hazards through spatial impact and risk assessment
Proven experience in developing and managing complex research projects and proven competence in leading and developing teams in a research environment
Proven track of scientific publications and experience in conducting workshops and scientific talks
Very good communication and presentation skills in German and English
What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement is is EUR 61.320,--The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience. In addition, we offer company benefits, flexible working conditions, individual training and career opportunities.
