Chair of Computational Life Sciences of the
International Research Unit Mathematics and Life Sciences is looking to fill the following position as soon as possible, initially on a fixed-term contract for three years with an option to extend for a further three years:
Senior researcher / lecturer (Akademischer
Rat/Akademische Rätin auf Zeit, pay grade A13) in
Mathematical Life Science (full time)
The Computational Life Sciences group develops and applies novel mathematical and computational approaches as well as software tools for data analysis and modeling. The spectrum of applications includes oncology, immunology, and epidemiology. We are intensively collaborating with world-leading experts in the respective fields as well as in mathematics, and we are part of the excellence clusters ImmunoSensation2 and Hausdorff Center for Mathematics at the University of Bonn. Furthermore, we are contributing to teaching in various study programs.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for an outstanding researcher with a high level of motivation to start his/her independent research and teaching program.
Your tasks:
- Independent research in the field of computational biology, system biology / medicine or medical statistics fitting the current research activities in the group
- Independent acquisition of third-party funds
- Preparation of scientific publications
- Teaching in the study programs MSc Mathematics, MSc Systems Immunology and related subjects (4 SWS (semester periods per week))
- (Co-)supervision of PhD and Master students in the preparation of their theses
Your profile:
- PhD degree in computational biology, system biology / medicine or medical statistics or closely related fields
- Programming skills (preferably Python, C++ and/or Julia)
- Experience in teaching and supervision of PhD and Master students
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Motivation to develop own research agenda and to build an independent research group
