The
Faculty of Science, Department of Physics, Mesoscopic Quantum Optics Group, offers a position of
Senior Postdoc (f/m/d)
(pay scale E14 TV-L)
starting as soon as possible. The position (100 % of regular working time) entails a fixed-term contract in the field of Cryogenic Integrated Quantum Photonics, and is initially limited for three years, depending on previous qualification (according to the German law “Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz“).
Position Profile:
Within the scope of the research activities of the Mesoscopic Quantum Optics group, and the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS), depending on your previous research profile, you are responsible for coordinating projects in one or more of the following areas: the development and characterization of cryogenic nonlinear quantum light sources, complex optical circuits using cryogenic integrated photonics, and novel applications of superconducting single-photon detectors. You will have the opportunity to work towards an independent research profile in these areas.
Your Responsibilities:
- Cooperation with doctoral students regarding their doctoral research
- Further development of own research and teaching as well as that of the subject area with a teaching obligation of usually 4 SWS
- Collaboration in the design and formulation of scientific funding proposals
- Conducting additional assigned tasks in independent research and project management
Your Profile:
- Successful completion of a Ph.D. in physics
- Lab experience with optical systems
- Experience with lasers, metrology, and nanofabrication
- Experience with superconducting single-photon detectors
- Sound knowledge of data analysis and programming (preferably Python)
- Excellent communication skills in English (familiarity with German is beneficial but not required)
- Enthusiasm for working in a team, and ambition to supervise junior team members
