The Ferdinand-Braun-Institut, Leibniz-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH) is an application-oriented research institute in the fields of high-frequency electronics, photonics and quantum physics. It researches electronic and optical components, modules and systems based on compound semiconductors. These devices are key enablers that address the needs of today’s society in fields like communications, energy, health, and mobility. It covers the entire value chain from design to ready-for-delivery systems.

The Laser Sensors Lab at the FBH is seeking a scientific staff member for Raman spectroscopic investigations.

 (Reference number 18/22)

Your activities

Diode laser are more and more used as the excitation light source for portable Raman spectroscopy in application fields such as medical diagnostic, materials and process analysis. The FBH develops compact diode laser based light sources for in-situ Raman spectroscopy under real-world conditions within research projects. The research will cover the development and validation of Raman spectroscopic measurement systems for qualitative and quantitative analysis of selected target substances, e.g., in the area of life sciences.

Your profile

Candidates must have completed a scientific university degree (master's/diploma) in physics, chemistry, photonics, (bio-) physical chemistry or related areas. A PhD degree will be preferred. Experience in Raman spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, sample preparation for spectroscopic investigations, optics, optolectronics, and measurement technology is beneficial.

You are able to adapt quickly new areas and offer innovative solutions. Statistical evaluation of measurement data using, e.g. Origin, and experience in numerical analysis by means of, e.g., Python and MATLAB, complete your profile. You are enthusiastic, committed, and maintain an independent, careful, and structured way of working. Your knowledge of the German and English language enables a close cooperation across different teams of our institute with employees from many nationalities.

Our offer

We offer challenging and interdisciplinary work on innovative diode laser based devices in the area of photonics and spectroscopy. Employment, remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the public sector (TVöD Bund). The position can be filled immediately and is initially limited to two years.

FBH is an equal-opportunity employer and actively supports the compatibility of family and career. Particular attention is paid to gender equality. The Institute strives to increase the proportion of women in this area. Female candidates are encouraged to apply. Among equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to handicapped candidates.

Have we piqued your interest? Then we look forward to your online application. Please click on "Apply online" and submit your complete application documents not later than 15.07.2022.

If you have any questions about the application, please contact Mrs. Manuela Münzelfeld
