The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research (MPIDR) in Rostock is looking for a
Science Communication Editor (m/f)
to join Press and Public Relations as soon as possible.
Press and editorial work as to the scientific communication of the MPIDR on various channels
Editorial work for the Institute's website, content development, and management of the Institute's social media channels
Support in defining a suitable publication strategy (focus, channels, timing, media monitoring)
Topic research within the Institute and professional approach to communicating with participant researchers
Text composition in English and German, securing approval, publication work
Provision of answers to media inquiries with the help of the scientists
Further development of the media skills of researchers
Support in maintaining and further developing the strategic orientation of Institute communication in agreement with the leadership
Stand-in for the head of the Press Center
University degree, professional experience in science communication or science journalism
Proven experience in online communication, with websites, CMS, and social media channels
Excellent knowledge of English and German (spoken and written)
A good understanding of numbers and statistics in science and communication, including their graphical representation
Insights into the social sciences and their methods
A good understanding of the demographic debate and its implications for politics, society, and the media
Knowledge of the international media landscape
Communication task with a challenge and at the forefront of demographic research in times of demographic change, a topic of high social relevance
Highly-motivated scientists and directors with a groundbreaking research agenda
Entry into a successful scientific Press Center and contact to top media outlets
Permanent full-time position in Rostock (39 hours per week)
Remuneration at Pay Scale 13 of the German federal wage agreement for the public service (TVöD Bund), company pension scheme
