Global Climate Forum e.V. (GCF) is a non-profit research institute based in Berlin that brings together representatives of different parties concerned with climate change including scientists, policymakers, NGOs, civil society and business to carry out joint studies and research projects that support climate mitigation andadaptation policies.
The Research Process Green Growth (https://globalclimateforum.org/processes/greengrowth/) at GCF Investigates complex socio-economic-ecological dynamics leading to win-win options that achieve emissions
reductions while overcoming poverty and unemployment. One of its projects is IMPETUS, an EU H2020 project that will validate a coherent multi-scale, multi-level, cross- sectoral climate change adaptation framework to accelerate the transition towards a climate-neutral and sustainable economy through place-based initiatives.
Within IMPETUS GCF leads the Decision Theatre – an IT-supported discussion tool with interactive visualizationenvironments - for instance for regional integrated water resource management. The GCF also leads the work package ‘Boosting project impact’ that aims to foster long-term project impacts. This includes providing briefings and guidelines to decision-makers in public agencies, administration, industry and finance, offering assessments of social benefits and costs connected with climate adaptation solutions, identifying policies suitable for innovative climate change adaptation measures.
The successful applicant is expected to be a team-player combining a passion for research at the interface ofsociety and the environment with solid programming and organisational skills. A university degree with a
focusin one of these areas is expected as well as an ability for transdisciplinary work. Programming and conceptualization skills are required for this position. The ability to moderate stakeholder discussions and to have a talent for communication would be a big plus. English proficiency must be fluent and on a professional level, command of German language is a plus. Applicant must be able to work across disciplines and projects.
The researcher position has a duration of 36 months full time, part time is possible. A competitive salary will be paid according to profile.
