Researcher (m/f, up to 100 %)
Salary according to German public service tariff (TVöD 14)

The position shall be filled as soon as possible. The position is currently limited until 31 December 2019.
The researcher will work on uncovering the trans-, international and domestic explanatory factors that contribute to change or stabilization of political orders, including the interplay between informal and formal institutions and/or the role of political values and attitudes in developing countries. Special attention shall be paid to transnational governance. We are looking for individuals with strong research and communication skills who can independently conduct excellent empirical research. The researcher shall also provide sound policy advice and be a good team player.
Qualifications and requirements:
Excellent academic record based on a master‘s degree and a PhD (preferably), ideally in political science, political psychology, political behavior or other related social sciences;
Very good command of quantitative and/or qualitative methods; demonstrable experience with social network analysis and associated software packages is an asset;
Substantial knowledge in one or more of the following issue areas: democracy promotion and autocratic trends; societal values in Africa‘; social cohesion; transnationalism; multi-level governance (regional and/or global governance);
Research or professional experience in developing countries;
Excellent English skills (spoken and written) and good knowledge in another major international language; German is an asset;
Willingness and aptness to travel abroad, including to countries with tropical climates ("Tropentauglichkeit").
