Research Software Engineer (m/f/d)
to join the Learning and Skill Analytics Research Group (Dr. Gábor Kismihók) at the earliest possible opportunity.
The position is initially limited until 31st October 2025 with envisioned extension. The regular weekly working time is 39.8 hours (full-time). The position is suitable for part-time work only to a limited extent. The remuneration is based on pay scale group 13 TV-L.
The successful applicant will support the software development and applied research activities around eDoer, an open, Artificial Intelligence driven, personalised learning environment. The successful candidate will be a member of an international team working on the new project: “Knowledge Graph der Data Literacy Alliance (Dalia) für FAIRe Datennutzung und -bereitstellung auf der Basis von Semantic Web Technologie” funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and with a special focus on the thematic area of research data management. Within this project TIB will cooperate with a number of leading German institutions, like RWTH Aachen or TU Darmstadt. DALIA will further develop the eDoer platform into a collaborative digital training support system.
This research software engineer role includes (but is not limited to) front-end and back-end development (fullstack) and visualising personalized learning paths and skill requirements. Besides that the successful applicant will also need to support the co-design of empirical studies together with doctoral researchers at TIB and other partner organizations. If interested, this work can be potentially published and presented in peer-reviewed research journals and conferences. If you are interested, this position can also be upgraded to a PhD project.
Your competence area should be rooted in the area of Technology Enhanced Learning or a related field (computer science and data science). You should be able to think creatively, have solid technical skills in software development, grasp new knowledge quickly, be able to combine abstract reasoning with concrete problem solving skills and be interested in tackling complex challenges.
