Heisenberg Professorship for Medical Risk Literacy & Evidence-based Decisions

The Heisenberg Professorship for Medical Risk Literacy & Evidence-based Decisions takes an interdisciplinary approach to cognitive science and decision making in medicine. Candidates (m/f/d) should be interested in using behavioral, computational and / or social network analysis methods to study decision making processes and social influences among clinicians and patients.
Your area of responsibility:
The position – full-time (39 hours / week) / TVÖD 14 (or equivalent) – will become part of the interdisciplinary research group of the newly established Heisenberg Professorship for Medical Risk Literacy & Evidence-based Decisions at Charité University Medicine Berlin. The successful candidate will become part of a vibrant team of clinicians, cognitive pschologists and statisticians at Europe's largest university clinic. The contract will initially be set for a fixed term for 4 years with the opportunity to extend the contract afterwards for an indefinite period of time.
Your profile:
Candidates (m/f/d) must hold a master’s degree, diploma or equivalent in psychology, economics, cognitive science, physics or a related field and have:
  • Interest in interdisciplinary research in the context of medical decision making
  • Proven skills in designing, programming and running behavioral experiments and online experiments
  • Interest in the social and cognitive underpinnings of decision making
  • Proficiency in computational statistics and data analysis using either frequentist or Bayesian approaches (e. g. in R or Python)
  • Experience in developing computational models of decision-making
  • Strong programming skills (e. g. in Matlab or Python)
  • Experience in social network analyses (e. g. using data from Twitter, Facebook etc.)
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills
