Research Scientist in Cancer Genomics

(Ref-No. 2022-0013)

We are looking for a research scientist to support the work of the Cancer Genomics Unit and the Molecular Tumor Board at the DKTK site Frankfurt / Mainz which is located on the campus of the University Hospital Frankfurt.

Description:
The successful candidate will analyse tumor samples using next-generation sequencing technologies. To this end, the candidate will establish and monitor next-generation sample preparation workflows and data analysis pipelines. In addition, the candidate will be asociated to the Department of Bioinformatics in Oncology (Buettner group) and involved in research projects on the application-driven development of data-science based tools for the analysis of next-generation sequencing data. The candidate will further collaborate with research groups in Frankfurt and Heidelberg.

Your profile:
We are looking for a candidate with a background in cancer biology, bioinformatics or a related field (e.g. mathematics, computer science, statistics). A master's degree at least is required (e.g. M.Sc.). Previous experience in next-generation sequencing sample preparation and data analysis is essential. In addition, the candiate should be familiar with common bioinformatics software tools. Knowledge of programming / scripting languages (e.g. R or Python) and best practices in software development as well as experience with Linux environments, cloud computing and the application of data science / machine learning algorithms is a plus. The candidate will closely interact with other researchers and clinicians therefore good English communication skills are required.
