Research Position (f/m) Ion Beam Based Physics

Two researcher positions in ion beam based physics
Temporary position for two years, starting January 1, 2018 or as agreed upon
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University invites applications for two researcher positions in ion
beam based physics. The candidates are expected to employ MeV and keV ion beams in applied material science investigations,
mainly focusing on ultra-thin film systems of relevance in electronics, optics, for hard coatings and in related interdisciplinary
projects. Contributions to and new initiatives in method development at the two main experimental facilities, i.e. the 5 MV tandem
accelerator and the 350 kV implanter with associated ToF-MEIS system will comprise an important part of the working duties. Also
engagement in developing advanced data analysis and in studying the fundamentals of ion solid interaction is expected. Taking
over responsibilities in collaboration projects with industry is anticipated. Supervision of undergraduate and PhD-student
projects can be part of the working duties.
Prerequisites: The holder of a position as researcher must have a PhD degree or equivalent. Well-documented research
experience using ion beams for material research, fundamental studies or materials modifications is expected. A good fundamental understanding
of ion-solid interaction is required. Experience in thin film technology is considered to be of advantage.
Employment Period: The period of employment is 2 years.
