The Institute of Biochemistry (www.biochem.uni-frankfurt.de) in the Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Goethe University Frankfurt am Main offers as soon as possible a position of a
Research Engineer / Application Specialist (m/f/x) Electron Microscopy (E 12 TV-G-U)
initially for a limited period of four years. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U). If the collective agreement requirements for personal qualifications are not met, the employee will be assigned to the next lower salary group in accordance with EGO TV-G-U.
In our research center, 20 project leaders and around 100 employees work on the structural elucidation of cellular protein complexes and machineries at cell membranes, thus making pioneering contributions to biomedicine and the treatment of diseases. Recent advances in cryo-electron microscopy have revolutionized the knowledge gained in the elucidation of cellular structures, making the optimal use of this technology essential to our research. We are looking for you to support our high-resolution cryo-EM infrastructure and to provide technical support to the scientists of our research center.
You will be responsible for the proper performance of electron microscopy measurements and data collection.
You will ensure the smooth operation of our cryo-EM equipment and initiate maintenance and repair work.
You will advise and support the scientists on technical issues.
You will independently test and optimize the system’s performance.
You are responsible for the documentation of procedures and measurements as well as the associated administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, service invoicing and ordering consumables.
You have a degree from a university of applied sciences in the field of natural or engineering sciences or a comparable education.
You bring solid IT skills and a passion for technology.
You are a team player and enjoy working on your own initiative.
You work in a proactive, structured and solution-oriented manner and are willing to develop professionally.
You have good communication skills in German and English.
Hands-on experience with laboratory instruments, especially high-end transmission electron microscopes, is a plus, but not a must.
