Within the framework of the Research Training Group 1913
"Cultural and Technical Values of Historic Buildings" funded
by the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Faculty of
Architecture, Civil Engineering and Urban Planning at
Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg
(BTU) is off ering the following positions to commence on
October 1st, 2019:
2 Research Associates (m,f,t)
for a period of 24 months, E 13 TV-L, full-time
The objective of the Research Training Group (RTG) 1913 funded
by the German Research Foundation (DFG) is to utilize knowledge
from a variety of fields such as art, technology, and sociology to
carry out academic research on historic buildings belonging to
diverses historical and cultural contexts.
Historic buildings are understood in this context to be repositories
of cultural value systems that include both the cultural and technical
knowledge of their time. The RTG sets out to gain a greater
understanding of these bearers of the architectural and technical
achievements of their time through interdisciplinary research
The academic work of the RTG aims to identify signifi cant
technological innovations and cultural processes by supporting
individual research into historic buildings, cultural landscapes, and/
or stakeholders. What is especially innovative in this regard is the
focus on technical and technological aspects and their cultural and
historical classifi cation and evaluation. The cultural and technical
aspects of the buildings are equally at the heart of the interdisciplinary
The postdoctoral positions will be fi lled by a humanities researcher
(Ref. No. 19/19) and an engineering researcher (Ref. No.
20/19) who will work in tandem. These researchers will work
collaboratively on a topic relevant to the Research Training
Group's research program that deals with one of the following
themes: Building and Construction Technology, Art History, Historic
