Research Associate (Postdoc)
(Salary group 13 TV-L, working time 80 - 100%, limited to 4 years)
The department Survey Design & Methodology (SDM) is both nationally and internationally recognized for its expertise in survey methodology, gained over many years by conducting own research as well as consulting on and implementing renowned survey projects.
Within the Scale Development and Documentation team, you will pursue the mission of ensuring high measurement quality in the social sciences through your own methodological research, psychometric consulting, and scale documentation.
The team’s central service is ZIS - the Open Access Repository for Measurement Instruments in which more than 300 survey instruments are documented. As the product manager for ZIS, you will be responsible for the content and strategic development of the service offering and combine this with your own methodological research. You will also serve as Associate Editor of the open access journal Measurement Instruments for the Social Sciences (MISS).
Your tasks will be:
As a product manager (incl. guidance of the involved employees): to supervise the scale repository ZIS and the open access journal MISS as associate editor with regard to content and technical-administrative aspects, and to strategically develop them further
To consult external researchers regarding their submissions as well as standardized research-based knowledge dissemination
Own scale developments (incl. validations and documentations) in collaboration with GESIS colleagues
Own accompanying research (e.g., in the area of scale development) and publication in international journals
Acquisition of third-party funding

Your profile:
PhD in psychology, sociology or a related discipline, ideally in the field of scale development and validation
Very good knowledge of psychometric methods and theories (classical test theory and item response theory)
Competent handling of common statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Stata, Mplus)
Publication experience in peer-reviewed international journals
Very good knowledge of English and at least good knowledge of German
