The Collaborative Research Center CRC 940 – Volition and Cognitive Control – (https://tu-dresden.de/bereichsuebergreifendes/sfb940) at the Faculty of Psychology invites applications for a position as

Research Associate / PhD Student / Postdoc

(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

with 65% of the full-time weekly hours for PhD Students or with 75 % - 100 % of the full-time weekly hours for Postdocs. The PhD position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. PhD). The position starts as soon as possible and is limited until June 30, 2024. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG).

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Ben Eppinger (Concordia University, TU Dresden) and Dr. Andrea Reiter (Julius Maximilians Universität Würzburg, TU Dresden) in a sub-project of the CRC 940 which addresses the question of how learning and control mechanisms change over the course of the lifespan and how they might be altered by developmental psychopathology (e.g. ADHD). To this end, behavioral measures and measures of neural activity (EEG) will be used. The planned experiments build on previous work conducted in our research group (e.g., Bolenz & Eppinger, 2020, Psyxarxiv; Bolenz et al., 2019, Elife; Reiter et al., 2019, JEP:Gen; Eppinger et al., 2017, CABN).

The successful candidate will be part of the newly established research group "Learning and Motivation in developmental psychopathology and psychotherapy” at University Clinic Würzburg and will be based in Würzburg. PhD Students are participating in a CRC-funded graduate program including annual spring schools in Dresden.

Tasks: The successful candidate will develop and conduct behavioral and EEG experiments in different age groups (children, adolescents, older adults), will apply advanced data analysis techniques, and will publish the findings in international journals.

Requirements: university degree (master/diploma) in cognitive/computational neuroscience or psychology, and – if applicable – PhD degree. We expect a strong interest in developmental psychology and/or neuroscience; interest to work with people of different age groups; ability to work in a team and social competence; proficiency in the English language; excellent statistical skills; coding skills (e.g. Matlab, R, Python) as well as prior experience with EEG are an advantage, willingness to learn these is expected.
