RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (F/M) INVESTIGATION OF OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE STRATEGIES FOR OFFSHORE WIND FARMS

Wind energy is our primary focus. Our institute is home to more than 250 employees and students from over 30 countries pursuing careers in applied research and development. We achieve this with a combination of an internationally unique testing infrastructure and extensive methods expertise in the fields of the reliability and validation of wind turbines.
The duties awaiting you...
It is only possible to optimize the complex operating and maintenance processes of offshore wind farms to a certain extent with traditional planning methods. Detailed time series simulations of the processes in a wind farm across its entire lifespan establish the basis for reducing the costs and risks during the operating phase. To this end, you will develop new methods and models for the simulation of the offshore processes including vehicle, spare parts, and HR strategies as well as cost, yield, and remuneration models. The methods will then be integrated in our software tools by your colleagues. In turn, you will employ these tools to resolve the problems of our industrial customers in the analysis of offshore operating and maintenance concepts. Your day-to-day work is very varied, as, in addition to the further development of the methods, you will engage in research in order to stay up to date with the latest developments in the field and, at the same time, you will be involved in different research and industry projects, submit research applications, and write project reports (yes, that is part of the job, too).

Have you already had the opportunity to put your expertise in the field of operating and maintenance strategies to the test in previous professional positions? Perhaps you've already worked in offshore logistics or onshore and offshore operating and maintenance strategies? You're not afraid of modeling costs either? Then, we would be delighted if you would join us to build on your existing expertise. As you will be analyzing large quantities of data here, an interest in writing scripts will facilitate your day-to-day work. You will present your results to your team and our customers as well as at conferences. This is not a problem for you in both English and German. If you are interested in doing a PhD - we can create the opportunities for you and support you on your way.

Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD). Additionally, Fraunhofer may grant performance-based variable remuneration components.
The working time consists of 39 hours per week.
The position is initially limited to 3 years.
In case of identical qualifications, preference will be given to severely disabled candidates.
