The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is an institute of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB). The FVB comprises eight non-university research institutes in Berlin which are funded by the federal and state governments. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz Association.

Research Assistants (m/f/d) (Ref. 19/06).
to be filled as soon as possible. The prerequisites are a diploma or master degree in mathematics (or neighboring fields). The PhD should be completed or very close to completion. The successful candidate will have interest in applied mathematics, in particular in applied analysis, and has profound knowledge in at least two of the following areas: functional analysis, nonlinear partial differential equations, calculus of variations, quantum mechanics, reaction-diffusion systems, mathematical modeling in fluid or solid mechanics, numerical simulation of nonlinear problems. The willingness of interdisciplinary interaction with researchers from natural sciences and engineering as well as of collaboration in the acquisition of third-party funding is expected.

The appointments are limited to 2 years and can be extended. The salary is according to the TVöD Bund scale.
