CRC 1114 aims at methodological developments for the modelling and computational simulation of complex processes involving many (more than two) interacting scales, driven by real-life applications from the bio-, geo-, and material sciences. In its individual projects, mathematicians cooperate with colleagues from the natural sciences to advance both their modelling capabilities and their insight into concrete multiscale phenomena.
Job description:
Project C01 of CRC1114 aims to advance the theory and computational methodology for open molecular dynamics coupled to continuum fluctuating hydrodynamics and applied to situations out of equilibrium. The successful candidate for the present position will, in particular, focus on molecular dynamics simulations of open systems in a thermal gradient, namely (i) a hydrated biological membrane and (ii) phase separation of water and ionic liquids mixtures. Theoretical and computational advancement of the open system model are also targeted in cooperation with partners in the same project.
This third-party funded project provides the opportunity of acquiring a related doctorate degree.
Requirements:
Academic degree (Master / Diploma) in Physics, Chemistry or Applied Mathematics.
Desirable:
Previous experience in two or more of the main fields of activity for this position, i. e., in molecular dynamics, statistical mechanics, multiscale modeling and fluid dynamics.
Applications should be sent by e-mail, together with significant documents, indicating the
