is led by a Rectorate. As Rector, you will represent the university both internally and externally and will chair the Rectorate as well
as the Senate and its committees. Your specific duties and legal status will be governed by the Universities Act of the State of
We are seeking a dynamic individual and strong negotiator who embraces responsibility and boasts a winning personality, unique
leadership qualities and excellent social skills. The new incumbent will need to be a skilled diplomat who brings a high level
of motivation and the creative drive needed to shape strategy. Besides these qualities, the post holder will also have several
years' relevant experience in a position of responsibility in industry or business and/or experience in academic management. The
successful candidate's profile will ideally be rounded off by proven interdisciplinary and international experience (academic study
and/or professional career) with a reputation to match.
To be eligible for the post of Rector, a candidate must hold a university degree and have several years' experience in senior roles,
particularly in industry, science, academia, art, business, administration or the justice system. Alternatively, they will already be a
full-time professor at the university and will be considered capable of fulfilling the duties required of the office.
The Rector is elected by the University Council and Senate in a joint session. They are appointed by the Minister-President of
the state of Baden-Württemberg for a six- to eight-year term and will have the status of a civil servant on a time-limited basis
unless their contract establishes a temporary employment relationship. A Rector can be re-elected. They are paid remuneration in
accordance with the Remuneration Act of the State of Baden-Württemberg (W3) plus an emolument in recognition of the duties
