as W2 Tenure Track Assistant Professor (with tenure track option to W3) or W3 Associate Professor; to begin as soon as possible.
The professorship belongs to TUM Department of Physics. The department is located at the Garching Campus, which offers an exceptional scientific environment, including the TUM Center for Functional Protein Analysis (CPA), the Munich School of Bioengineering, Collaborative Research Centers, and Graduate Schools.
The responsibilities of TUM professors include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert with a research profile in theoretical analysis of biological networks. The research will focus on biological networks from the molecular to the cellular scale, and on questions relevant to the quantitative understanding of signal processing and regulation, including the associated transport processes.
The teaching load includes courses in the university's bachelor and master programs.
We are looking for a candidate with a university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, who has demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, regarding the relevant career level. The applicants may have university and/or industry experience. International scientific experience during the doctoral or postdoctoral phase is expected. The successful candidate shows pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English.
Candidates are expected to be fully committed to collaborate with the department's theoretical and experimental groups, to interact with related groups in the greater Munich research area and to participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor.
