PROFESSOR IN "SOCIOLOGY OF DIGITAL WORK" (SALARY SCALE W3)
The position of a professor in "Sociology of Digital Work" (Salary Scale W3) at the Institute of Work Science (IAW) at Ruhr-Universität Bochum is to be filled until the 1st of October 2019.
The applicant is expected to deal with the interaction between digitalization and the changing world of work with new and interdisciplinary perspectives at least in one of the following areas:
Demographic changes, Industry 4.0, digitalization of services and value chains;
Digitalization of living environments in conjunction with the digitalization of work;
Establishment of new forms of working life and the organization of work beyond established structures (crowd work, work in the platform economy);
Flexibility and mobility in the digital world of work; or/and
Change in co-determination and new forms of participation in digital work systems.
The main focus of the professorship is intended to complete the existing Chairs at IAW with a complementary profile. The research on digitalization of work shall deal with both, analytical conceptual outlines and practical implications. The successful applicant is expected to take on teaching responsibilities primarily in the context of the postgraduate course Master of Arts in "Organizational Management" and for the Faculty of Social Sciences (programme MaRAWO), where the successful candidate will become a member of the faculty.
Positive evaluation as a junior professor or equivalent academic achievement (e.g. habilitation) and evidence of special aptitude are just as much required as the willingness to participate in the self-governing bodies of the RUB and the overall development according to the university's mission statement. We expect furthermore:
high commitment in teaching
readiness to participate in interdisciplinary academic work with networking beyond sociology
willingness and ability to attract external funding
methodological expertise with regard to the implementation of a scientific training programme (Executive Training).
