Biological Sciences. This civil servant or public employee position
will start as soon as possible.
We are looking for an internationally renowned candidate who has
a strong expertise in the field of systems neurobiology at the
organismic level. Possible research topics include, but are not limited
to the development, function/dysfunction and dynamics of neural
circuits underlying behavior and/or social interactions, sensory
coding, emergence/stability of neuronal-glia networks. Expertise in
state-of-the-art imaging techniques, for example functional imaging,
optogenetics and multi-neuronal electrophysiological recording is
highly welcome. Competence in neurogenetics, and/or computational
approaches are of advantage. You should have a strong publication
record and a proven ability to acquire third party funding.
The professorship will be embedded in the Institute of Cell Biology

spectrum ranging from high-resolution imaging and comparative
genomics to cellular and developmental neuroscience and behavioral
studies using a diverse set of model organisms and organoids
(

). The professorship should complement the institute research
profile and contribute to develop an integrative and overarching
research program across animal model organisms through active
collaborations with the existing groups. The establishment of new
cooperations with the neuroscience groups of the Life Sciences and
Medical Faculties at the Goethe University, the Max Planck Institute
(MPI) for Brain Research, the Interdisciplinary Center of Neuroscience
Frankfurt (ICNF) and the Ernst Strüngmann Institute (ESI) are expected.
In addition, establishment of new collaborations in the frame of the
established Rhine-Main-Neuroscience network (rmn2) and the
Strategic Alliance of the Rhein-Main Universities (RMU), as well as
an active participation in the existing and future collaborative research
centers (e.g. CRC1080; FOR 5368; GRK 2566) and excellence strategies
are encouraged.
Teaching and further development of the study program associated
with the institute is expected. The Professorship will be responsible
for the coordination of the basic zoology and neurobiology courses
in the Bachelor of Biosciences and of the Master Interdisciplinary
Neurosciences (

Physical Biology of the Cells and Cell Interactions (
https://tinygu.de/KwRLq) is encouraged.
The formal hiring requirements are defined in sections 67, and 68 of
the Hessian Higher Education Act (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).
