Professorship (W2)
for "Bioinformatics in Oncology"

The position is to be filled as soon as possible and recruited for the partner site Frankfurt / Mainz of the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK).
This professorship is designated to strengthen the bioinformatic expertise within the context of cancer research in Frankfurt. It will be located at the University Hospital Frankfurt and will be an integral part of the DKTK operations at this site.
The successful candidate is expected to be highly qualified and internationally renowned in the field of bioinformatics.
Beyond that, a strong background in the field of oncogenic signal transduction, systems biology / medicine (e.g. data integration) as well as in high throughput experimentation, especially in proteomics is highly welcome.
Applicants should furthermore be experienced in teaching, have an excellent publication record, and should have proven their independence as a principal investigator. Successful funding acquisition and experience as a group leader is expected.
The position is permanent (tenured) professorship, initially as an employee and will be performed according to the "Jülicher Modell" with administrative leave at DKFZ. At a later point in time, the successful candidate may be appointed as a civil servant (Beamter), pending approval of the post by the State of Hessen and the eligibility of the candidate according to the rules and regulations set by the University and the State of Hessen.
A strong willingness to collaborate with the scientific and clinical research community of the DKTK (www.dktk.org), the DKFZ (www.dkfz.de) and the DKTK partner site Frankfurt / Mainz is essential.
Applicants must provide an academic degree, educational aptitude, a completed doctorate, and a ‘Habilitation‘ or equivalent scientific achievements.

The alliance between the DKFZ as core center and the university partner sites in Berlin, Dresden, Essen / Düsseldorf, Frankfurt / Mainz, Freiburg, Munich and Tübingen establishes joint translational cancer research units. The DKTK promotes interdisciplinary approaches and innovative clinical studies, which will contribute to improved prevention, diagnosis and faster implementation of personalized therapies for cancer patients.
