Professorship (W3) „Technical Environmental Biology
and Analysis of Ecosystems“
INSTITUTE FOR SANITARY ENGINEERING, WATER QUALITY AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT | AS OF APRIL 1ST, 2020
The focus of the professorship in research and teaching is on the ecosystems analysis and optimization of microbiological processes and systems for environmental technologies.
The position involves teaching on this subject area in the German- and English-language study courses of the Faculty 2 (Civil and Environmental Engineering) and in other study courses in which the Faculty is involved.
In the context of sustainable use and conservation of resources, the tenure-track professorship will deal with fundamental methods for the innovative analysis of technical and especially aquatic ecosystems, microbiological environmental technology as well as bio- and active-component analytics.
The research conducted at the department focuses on new methods for the biological elimination or regulation of environmental pollutants in technical and natural systems as well as the associated resource-oriented approaches, which aim at closing material cycles. On the basis of the own microbiological expertise the interrelationships in natural and technical aquatic systems should be understood and ecosystems should be considered and assessed as a whole. In cooperation with other research areas within the institute questions on anthropogenic trace compounds are of particular interest.
We expect experience and profound microbiological expertise in the field of environmental technology and/or in the analysis of natural and biological-technical ecosystems, preferably with molecular effect-related analysis including reporter systems.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate who can prove his/her ability and willingness to cooperate in an interdisciplinary context as well as his/her success in the acquisition and management of fundamental/application-oriented research projects. This should be shown in (national and international) projects and publications. The candidate should cooperate with the Micropollutants Competence Centre of Baden-Württemberg (KOMS), which is located directly at the institute, and collaborate with the institute’s central laboratory, which is currently under construction. Furthermore, he/she should participate in the Water Research Centre Stuttgart. The professorship involves the management of a department as well as the collegial management of the institute.
The requirements for employment listed in § 47 and § 50 Baden-Württemberg university law apply.
