Full Professor

to begin as soon as possible. The professorship is a tenured W3 position. The Full Professor will be appointed Director of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar.
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine. TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany‘s top medical schools in research and teaching, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary and translational research. Close collaboration with TUM‘s natural and engineering sciences, in particular the TUM Department of Physics, and the Munich School of Bioengineering offer a solid base for excellent fundamental and translational research. Imaging in multiple modality is one of the core research areas at TUM and the TUM School of Medicine.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the position include research and teaching, patient care in the area of diagnostic imaging as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the field of diagnostic and interventional radiology. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and fundamentals courses offered by the department, as well as courses for other TUM departments.
Qualifications
We are looking for a high-profile candidate with an international reputation, who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. Board certification in Radiology as well as leadership experience in a larger clinical unit is required.
Candidates are expected to be fully committed to collaborate with scientists at the TUM School of Medicine and Klinikum rechts der Isar, as well as with scientists at other TUM schools and departments, to interact with related groups in the greater Munich research area and to participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations. Moreover, candidates should possess leadership competence and experience, as well as a proven ability to establish, acquire and lead competitive and cooperative research projects.

As a rule, the holder of this professorship is not employed as a „Beamter“ under German law. The duties related to patient care as Director of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, including the right to bill additional fees, are to be regulated separately in a head physician contract with the university hospital‘s board of management.
