With its 8.200 Students, the Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus-Senftenberg (BTU) is the second largest as well
as the only one technical university in Brandenburg with science based as well as application oriented courses.
In research and technology transfer the BTU focuses on collaboration with other universities, small and medium-sized
enterprises as well as international major size companies operating on a worldwide basis.
A personality is sought-after which is able to represent and address the related scientific
topics in research and teaching in the area of expertise "polymer materials" with respect to the following topics:
structure-property correlation of reactive resins
methodical combination of material development and process technology
thermoset-based lightweight design
technologies of environmentally sustainable composite materials
structured lightweight systems in polymer-, metal and composite design
numerical simulation of component behaviour in lightweight systems
The position is connected to the leadership of the research field "polymer materials and composites PYCO" of the Fraunhofer
Institute for Applied Polymer Research, located in Teltow/Wildau including scientific and corporate controlling and development
of the business unit within the "Fraunhofer Model" and within the overall strategy and policy of Fraunhofer. The
implementation of collaborative projects between initial research and applied topics of the IAP research field is favoured.
The future holder of the position should represent the main topics in research and teaching as well as research- and technology
management with regard to research funders and research partners in a competent way, and expand the strategic
connections between the university and the Fraunhofer Institute. High scientific quality in research and development as
well as the acquisition of research and development projects from government financed and industrial clients are expected.
Competences in developing highly crosslinked polymers (reactive resins/thermoset systems) and composite materials for
applications in all sectors, but in particular for traffic engineering (aerospace in particular), information and communication
technology as well as equipment technology are required.
It is expected, that candidates have appropriate experience in managing large and interdisciplinary research groups, strategic
planning, acquisition and execution of national and international high-volume research and development projects in different
business areas as well as competences to enhance the efficiency of development processes and technology utilisation.
Industrial experience on a high responsibility level, experience in international working and teaching as well as in international
projects and scientific-political networking is of advantage.

Other duties result from the requirements set by § 42 Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz (Higher Education Act of the
State of Brandenburg - BbgHG) in conjunction with § 3 BbgHG.
Preconditions for recruitment in particular are a completed degree, pedagogical suitability, PhD and habilitation or the proof
of equivalent scientific accomplishments.
Please refer to §§ 41 paragraph 1 No 1 - 4a and 43 BbgHG for further prerequisites and conditions of employment.
Experience in the acquisition and realization of third-party funded projects is expected. Fields of research should be relevant
for DFG (German Research Foundation) funding. Lectures are primarily to be held in German, fluency in English is expected.
