The German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the University of Stuttgart seek to jointly appoint a Professorship (W3) on Thermal Energy Storage with a position at the University of Stuttgart at the Institute of Building Energetics, Thermal Technology and Energy Storage with a reduced teaching assignment (2 SWS) and academic leave of absence (the "Jülicher Modell") at the DLR-Institute of Engineering Thermodynamics as Head of the Department of Thermal Process Technology (m/f/d).
Candidates are required to have an outstanding qualification in the field of energy research and to have successfully carried out research in one or several of the following topics:
Thermal Energy Storage,
The candidates are required to teach the topic of thermal energy storage at the University of Stuttgart in the amount of two weekly hours per semester. The University expects that the contents of the lectures in the winter and summer term should be built upon each other and should be offered in several Engineering Master courses. Particular emphasis should be placed on innovative techniques and requirements on thermal energy storage that are connected to the increasing level of sector integration and artificial intelligence in advanced energy systems.
The University of Stuttgart and the DLR expect that the candidate develops a close interdisciplinary collaboration within the University and with external research institutes and industry. Industrial background or international working experience is desirable.
The University of Stuttgart and the DLR seek a personality that has an outstanding international reputation, demonstrated through high-ranking scientific publications or patents as well as excellent didactical skills and experience in teaching. Experience in interdisciplinary collaboration, supervision of large staff and raising third-party funding are also required.
