The
Department of Foreign Literatures and Languages in the Institute for Classical Literatures and Languages invite applications for a position,
to be filled by summer term 2023, as a
Professorship (W3) of Latin Studies
The holder (m/f/d) of the position should represent the subject of Latin Studies in all its breadth in research and teaching.
Marburg Classical Philology attaches great importance to interdisciplinary cooperation. It is therefore expected that the future post holder will expand the interdisciplinary cooperation in the Institute and department and within the framework of the 'Marburger Centrum Antike Welt,' but also with other departments, and that the new colleague will contribute to the development of joint projects. Experience in the successful acquisition of third-party funds and existing international networks are desirable.
In teaching, all epochs and genres of ancient Latin literature must be covered and the history of the reception and the impact of Latin antiquity up to modern times must be included. Teaching and ex-aminations include courses in the teaching degree program, the B.A. courses in „European Literatures,“ „History of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures,“ „Interdisciplinary Literary and Cultural Studies,“ the M.A. program in „Classical Philology,“ and the new B.A. program, which is currently being developed. The Latin language courses and exams also fall into the functional responsibility of the professorship.
A willingness to take on self-management tasks is a prerequisite. Other important tasks are the further devel-opment of degree programs, cooperation with schools, and the further expansion of international cooperation. As the language of instruction is German, a flawless command of the German language on the part of the candidate is assumed as a matter of course.
